Amenities

Slated to open in the fall of 2009, Santa Barbara Plantation’s championship 18-hole golf course designed by Pete Dye puts the natural landscape into play as it winds across the majestic waterfront and into the tranquil foothills just beyond. Challenging players of all skill levels, this eco-golf course embraces its natural surroundings and minimizes the environmental impact. The use of hearty Paspalum grass enables watering of the course with reclaimed water or even brackish water up to 7,000ppm salt content and it is favored by seasoned golf pros.

The 18th green is set before the calm waters overlooking Santa Barbara Plantation’s charter marina. At the golf clubhouse, one may find a private activity room, a fully stocked golf pro shop with a wide range of rentals available and comfortable men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Seru Boca Marina is presently in operation and provides residents with 120 slips available for docking vessels up to 80 feet in length. Boats docked in the marina are protected from rough seas by natural jetties and mangrove estuaries. Curaçao is located on the southern border of the hurricane belt and it is rarely affected by hurricanes in the Caribbean. Boat owners will find peace knowing their vessels and homes are safe from harmful weather year round.

Santa Barbara Plantation also plans to provide numerous recreational options appealing to those with an active lifestyle or soft-adventure seekers. A charter marina with fishing, diving and tour boats will be available offering trips to the nationally protected waters just off the plantation’s beachfront and other areas rich with marine life. In addition to the acres of natural mangrove estuaries throughout Santa Barbara Plantation, paved trails snake throughout the entire development for walking, jogging or bicycling.

The Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort, Spa & Marina will provide a multitude of luxury business and personal amenities available to residents and guests alike, including approximately 15,000 square feet of ballroom, meeting room, board room, pre-function and break-out space, business center services, a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center, outdoor pool and tennis center. The Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort, Spa & Marina will also run an open-kitchen style restaurant, a poolside lounge and grill. Guests at the Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort, Spa & Marina may be treated to 18 holes of the Caribbean’s finest golf experience or rest and relaxation at the resort’s private white sand beach and swimming pool. The hotel’s beach rental & tour center will serve the needs of guests looking for an island adventure with scuba diving, snorkeling, kayak and bicycle rentals, as well as eco-tours of the island and its diverse natural habitat.

In addition to the most modern and upscale amenities available, Santa Barbara Plantation is committed to safety and security with gated access points staffed by professionally trained security personnel and roving K-9 patrols 24/7. The property and its residences are readily accessible to police, fire and medical response agencies in the event of an emergency. St. Elisabeth’s Hospital and other clinics are available to meet most medical needs.

Natural Attributes

Curaçao offers a rich natural environment with a variety of flora and fauna, and is becoming well-known for its fine diving in unpolluted crystal clear sea water and the most pristine coral reefs of the Caribbean.

Santa Barbara Plantation lies next to the Curaçao Underwater Park-a nationally protected area reserved for recreational divers and marine biologist that is home to different species of corals, fish, lobsters, sea turtles and sea mammals.

Incorporating the natural surroundings of endemic iguanas, rabbits, land crabs, cacti, and a variety of bird species, Santa Barbara Plantation is flourishing with natural life that is embraced in the master plan of the community. The flourishing natural mangrove estuaries at Santa Barbara Plantation are an essential habitat for bird and marine life; recent research proved that these mangroves are of critical importance to marine algae containing compounds with promising medicinal properties.

The community’s developers are making a firm commitment to the preservation and enhancement of the natural habitat, adhering to the highest standards of sustainable and conservation-oriented development throughout Santa Barbara Plantation.
